Last night went to pick up my sister who was stuck on 95 in bad ice storm. Get there fine had it in 4wd auto whole time. Coming back I must have hit black ice or something lost control and hit the cement barrier doing about 20 mph dead on (fishtailed directly into it). Explorer just bounced off and i drove it off the next exit. Bumper had bent and was rubbing on the tire. After insurance telling me no tow trucks were available for 12 hours (really bad last night) 3 hours later one pulled into the gas station for gas and pulled my bumper out (thought he was being nice then he asked for 20 bucks, hey he's gotta make a living i guess). Anyway the check engine light is on (all the guage's read fine so i drove it the 40 miles home last night and it still started up this morning). But the front grill is messed up, left quarter panel is pushed back alittle and the front bumper is bent down alot. First question is. The check engine light any ideas if its operating ok? And as far as the bumper, grill and quarter panel how hard is it to replace them or should i just cought up my deductible and let my insurance go sky high? Thanks for listening to me ramble just frustrated.

the easiest way to find out about the cel is go to autozone and have the codes pulled and then go from there.
as for the body work i have no clue on that

that really sucks to hear about your truck man, good luck with everything

Hey Jeff, glad to hear your ok..sounds like a wild ride. Anyway I think i'd check out some junk yards for the body pannels you'll need. I know that there's one here that I goto that has a couple of 2nd gens in it that you could get pannels off of...the just paint them. As for the CEL...auto zone will scan the codes for free i think. I would think maybe a sensor or something got trashed and the computer knows it. Get the codes and we can be more help. Again, glad your alright.....that's the important part :)

Good Luck

Glad to hear you're alright. The grill is really easy to replace and the bumper isn't too bad either but you will want a buddy to give you a hand with that due to it's weight and awkwardness.

thanks everyone, I'll go to autozone tom. once the roads are cleared up and post them on here.

It is my guess you cut a wire.
75% of the time when you get a CEL after a collision is is a cut wire.
I believe you mean the fender.
Quarter panels are on the back fenders are on the front.
