So I passed a few Montero's and a few landys Today. I love the look of the door mounted spare. I know it's not good to mount the spare on the door because of the hinges. I wouldn't mind losing function of the glass only opening part of the door. How difficult do you think it would be to mount some heavy duty hinges to give the door a sideways opening So I could mount a tire carrier directly to the door? Did that make sense? It's mostly just a wow that would be cool Idea wondering what you guys think.

Good idea, just not sure if it can be done. I think something like the 5th generation Bronco's tire carrier. One that would swing out and you could have both the door functions, and the tire rack.

I think this would be the best option for you.

That would probably be an easier idea too. Thought it would score top points in the cool factor though. I don't have any plans for this yet so its just in the how impossible is this stage haha. If I ended up having exposed bars I think I would rather reinforce the stock bumper and install a swivel on that, like all the 1st gens you see with them.
