I just had the BFGoodrich A/Tko's put on, 255/70/16... I think it looks great and gives the truck a "stout" look... problem is, to me anyway, it shifts kinda weird... not bad, just different... Do i need to get my computer reprogrammed or what? If so, how and where do I go about doing this. Thanks.

The Ford computer will readjust itself over a period of time to a different driver. I never thought of it doing anything with a change in tires, but I guess it's possible. If it is just an adjustment, give it a few days and see what happens.

that looks awsome man! i've been looking around for pics of new explorers with that exact tire combo and stock rim that you have and counldn't find one anywhere. i'm definetly putting those BFG A/T 255/70/16 on mine.

when you change tire and wheel size to larger or smaller you have to get the speedo recalibrated by the dealer or by a superchips 1714 controller

The superchips 1714 says for 2004 only... guess ill have to take it to the dealer, gurr...

shop around... most dealers will charge you a full hour of labor.. mine charged me for a half hour ($48)

Do you know if 265-70-16 will work (all the way around on stock rims) same as pictured above?

Yes, 265/70/16 clears just fine, as does 265/75/16 (which is what alot of the guys here are going with)... To my the 265/75/16 doesnt leave enough fenderwell clearance to look right, and actually I would like the front to sit a bit higher than it does. I went with 255/70/16 as a happy medium between that size, and the stock 235/70/16. It ends up being 1 inch taller and 1 inch wider and is noticable. I've gotten about half a dozen compliments on my truck just around town (car stereo shop, walmart, and work) saying how good it looks and asking me what size tires they are.

Leave it to another firefighter to answer a question thats been bugging me for weeks! I was looking for pics just like yours to let me see how it would look if I went with those tires. Thanks!

Glad I could be of help... make sure you go get your computer reprogrammed though, I dropped from 350-375 miles to a tank down to barely making 300 miles to a tank.. I still havent made time to go get mine done, but I really should to make sure thats why my gas mileage went to ****... while its there I guess i'll get them to flush + filter + fill the tranny...
