I know that are a lot of posts about this but I am going to attempt this with a Dana 44 and would just like to get a feeling on what I am about to get into.

On a scale of 1-5, 1 being simple 5 being hard as S@#T. How hard is it to do a solid axle swap for some body that has never touched a frame in that way, but has done plenty of bodywork and engine work.

I've never done one personally but I'm assuming you're doing it on your '94? That would be easier than doing it on a 2nd gen because you're already have the setup for coils and such. I've been told it just "bolts up" but I'm sure it's not that easy so I voted difficult no beer. It's not going to be easy by any means but shouldn't be extremely difficult but I can't say for sure. I've been wanting to do one on my '92 ever since my brother did his but I think you've gotta have money before you can do it

To many variables. What kind of suspension, and do you have any welding skills? I'm in the middle of mine now. Lesson: It ALWAYS takes twice as much time and twice as much money as you expect...

i think the most money is in the axle from what i have been reading in the posts here. i have gotten the pumpkin from a friend so all i have to do is find the axle shafts. but looking at the pumpkin it looks like there are alot of miss aligened parts from the ford, witch means alot of shaveing and rewelding. I have moderate welding skills and a tig welder but peolple are telling me that i need a stick welder for frame work Is this true?

suspension will be springs not leaf.

If you go with the Early Bronco setup, it won't be too bad. There are many threads on there with that same idea both 1st and 2nd Gens. That's almost a bolt on system. CoryL, Mud*****, and Taxman has some great information for you.

You will need a MIG or ARC welder that will do 1/4". The TIG won't have the penetration you will need.
