We ordered our new 2014 Explorer form Mccafferty Ford in Langhorne Pa. on 10/29. It came in on Friday, & some salesman sold it out from under me as it came off the truck. I`m pizzed.

I hope you have called Ford Customer Service and complained about the dealership.

You can have mine, I lost interest in waiting at the 16 week mark, now in week 17 no truck.

Only 6-7 months until 2015 order banks open.

Sgt1411, you sure nothing is wrong with your order? I ordered my Explorer Sport Nov 1st and it was delivered in Los Angeles, CA on 12/23.

Salesman told me he was "sorry" & they could get me another around the sixth of January. I said no thanks & asked if the salesman who sold the truck could not read the words "Special Order" on the sticker. He did not know what to say. I was so mad, I went right across the street & bought a new Jeep Grand Cherokee.

Its more to do with "dealer allocation" the dealership getting an allotment of build slots during a particular build cycle.

If they pay for a certain amount of build slots or get allocated a certain amount based on sales, volume, size of dealer etc etc and use those up then the order sits till the next build cycle for that vehicle type.

My order (Sept 13 shows entered) shows order excepted, nothing happened until November because they didn't have the allocation. Two and half months of "In Ordering Process"

If they had told me up front we missed the build cycle I wouldn't have ordered.

Integrity in the car business is not a common trait.

Please don't let that sales guy walk away without any accountability.

Call Ford CS and complain

Oh!, I will. It just bites my a** that no one at the dealer caught the fact that it stated special order on the sticker. I haven`t seen those type of shenanigans since the early 80`s. Also in the last twelve months I have bought two new Mustangs from these guys & this is what I get.....

Sorry to hear that the salesman couldn't read " Special Order", but also on my window sticker my name was on the lower left hand side of the sticker,so when the Ex rolled off the truck they knew who it was for and not to put it into inventory.

So if the people who bought your vehicle keeps the sticker, which everybody usually does, they will be reminded of you with your name on it.

Don't let this guy slide, tell the sales manager and Ford what happened, and that you bought a Grand Cherokee.

Good luck and you will enjoy the Cherokee.

What about waiting in the dealerships employee parking lot when the dealership closes and having a "Personal" chat with the salesman?

Oops.......that was outside voice again wasnt it?........Damn I always get that confused.

Nevermind

That's why we have 2 testicles- salesman can loose 1 after the personal chat on why he sold another mans Ex and he can still feel like he's still the Man after making the sale.

The GM Emailed me to say that the salesman would be "retrained". He also tried to tell me that it was not intentional & wanted to get me another truck to gain my "trust" back. I told him that I contacted Ford customer service & he wrote back to tell me to enjoy the Jeep as they are good vehicles. What a nimrod. I`m not mad at Ford, just at this particular dealership. I bought a brand new Mustang GT from them a little over a month ago with a list of over $43,000. I guess customer loyalty don`t mean much to some dealers. I don`t even want to take the GT back to them for service/warranty work, if needed.

I absolutely understand your annoyance at this: I'd be seething also. I usually apply the 3-strikes rule though, myself. It's possible that this dealership doesn't deserve a 2nd chance, and that you don't want to give them one, but I can say from my own experience that running any business is a complex endeavor with many moving parts that you cannot possibly be on top of all the time. It is possible that your mistreatment really may have been the results of an isolated nimrod who didn't know better, didn't think, or is maybe just an idiot. Since you don't which, it's not clear you can do anything other than leave it to the management to decide how to deal with it.

At a management level, however, at this point they can't do anything about having sold your truck, they can only try and do something else (above and beyond) and try and not to lose you as a customer. It also may be worth considering whether your decision to no longer do business with this dealer is going to hurt you as much or more than it will hurt them. This might be an opportunity to you? Since you have been a loyal customer and have bought from them previously maybe that can offer you something in return for their snafu? Maybe a service loaner for the life of your mustang? Maybe an ESP for dealer cost? I dunno? Obviously it's entirely up to you if you care about any of these things, but you can always ask for something you would consider to be reasonable compensation for your troubles, and make it clear that even then they're still on thin ice as far as your continued business is concerned. Sometimes there are situations where you might step back, take a deep breath and consider giving people a 2nd chance. This might not be one of them from your perspective, but either way, I hope you get treated better in the future, by whomever you choose to deal with.
