Hello, all,
I haven't had occasion to post before, but I've learned a lot by lurking, so thanks in advance.
My 2000 XLS 5.0L AWD won't start, won't turn over. I've checked voltage at the battery & fuse/relay block, cables, fuses and relay, so far, these all seem OK. My question is, does this truck have a solenoid separate from the starter? The on-line parts houses list one, but if it's there, I can't find it on the fender or firewall. I'd really like to try shorting across the solenoid before removing the starter, if that's possible. I can't really see the starter well enough to tell right now (I'm sorry, it's dark and pouring rain, this just happened a few minutes ago). I'd also much rather replace a solenoid than a starter, if THAT's possible.
Thanks,
Darel
