2000 5.0 awd coolant leak

Thanks for the info turboplz, shortly after posting this I pressure tested the system and found a pinhole on the 90 degree hose that goes from the water pump to the t-stat housing... Thanks "mountaineergreen",this looks to be the reason I was seeing the coolant on the drivers side; I notice that when the hose is leaking under pressure that the coolant flows from passenger side to the drivers side on the top valley part of the timing chain cover giving it the illusion that it is leaking from the drivers side. I will replace the hose and pressure test again to see if there are any or no leaks present...

thanks

Have the same leak/issue with the 90 degree elbow hose aka bypass hose. Went to replace today and when pulled off old hose the valve against block came clean off! Valve against water pump is a stub with flat piece of valve that used to be there that is rusted and holes in it. Are these plug in valves I can get to replace or will I need to replace water pump and whatever piece this is against the block to have the valves back to plug the bypass hose to? Help! Am a female trying to do this and have done excellent just to get thus far and know half about what I am talking about ..Lol. I am freaking out this is my only way to go and now I am stuck :(

Hey everyone, I recently joined the explorer world and Im looking for some help. I seem to have a coolant leak that pools on the top of the water pump towards the passenger side right around where it meets the block. Ive checked and tightened all the hose clamps, and pressure tested the system, but cant seem to really see where the leak is coming from in there. I noticed there is one smaller hose that attaches to a heater line that runs inbetween the upper and lower intake. how common is it for that line to go bad? I guess it could also be the thermostat housing but when i pressure tested it, everything felt dry there. Its just really hard to try and see back there with all the hoses and etc. in the way! anyone have similar experiences?:dunno:
Thanks for any help!
Rick
Hey man get a cheap ultra violet flashlight and go get dye from Napa run it around if possible then go under with flashlight and you should hopefully clearly follow the path

Thread is 10 years old! Good advice though
