I drove down to my local Car Audio Store the other day to look into systems. My speakers are starting to make fuzz and crack sounds. I admit I know very little about car sterios, but I have a knack for electronics. The guy told me that if I wanted some subs I would need to consider an amp. He then told me that my 96 Explorer already has an amp and sub in it and that it would cost me extra for them to bypass them to hook up new amps and subs. The final cost kept going up and thats when I said I would come back later.

So now I am looking on doing it myself. Can it be done by an amatuer? Will I screw my car up? As for subs and speakers I want quality sound not bass crashing noise. Any reccomendations?

Yes it can be done by you. It's not hard at all. Your understanding of it is the hard part.
www.crutchfield.com has some great downloadable guides that explain things.

For X specific stuff you can search here & get all that info.

Thanks that website gave me great information and the confidence that I can do the job myself. I am looking at:

1) 4 Kenwood KFC-5708C speakers for the front and rear doors
If I buy these speakers do I need to buy an amp too or will my stock amp be enough power to power these new speaks?

2) MTX T-Form 91-01 Explorer Black w/10" Sub plus amp
I like the look and the fact that I don't have buy a separate amp and lose space in my SUV.

I think you should be fine to let them run without an amp on the speakers.
