1996 ford explorer manual
I have a 1996 Ford Explorer Sport. I'm having trouble putting it into gear, it still shifts and doesn't make noise so I don't think it's the clutch. does anyone know what can be wrong?

Just for clarification, is this a manual?

If so, your clutch pedal is hydraulically connected to your clutch. There will be a master cylinder under the hood (drivers side right by the brake booster) and a slave cylinder inside the bell housing.

Over time, when they start to leak, it's like you aren't pushing the clutch in all the way.

You can try topping off the master cylinder with brake fluid, but if that doesn't help, most likely you will have to replace one or both of the cylinders. You will have to google on how to tell which cylinder is bad.

Also, once the slave cylinder start leaking, your clutch may start acting up because it's not designed to get wet with brake fluid.
