Found these on ebay, I think i'm gonna paint the factory steel wheels red to match the van and stick these on with chrome trim rings. What do you guys think? I'm thinking white line tires later on. Of course a set of red lines would be bad a$$!

I might even paint the inner grill red as well.

You know instead of red line tires how about red line rims. I saw them at pep boys there call mag wheel curb protectors. They come in different colors. Sharp as hell in going to buy them when attached to the rim were the bead is and protects it. I first saw it 5 days ago on tv. I was watching wheeler dealer. They did a black 5.0 gt convertible and the mags were smoked. But the red protectors on the rim with the red center cap made the stand look like the bat mobile .

This is a VIEDO of rim blades being installed. Looks sharp and protects your rims. Like a rim comdom

I'd wanted to do the same thing! Would look sweet with dark gray "hot rod" primer. You were lucky to find a set w/the mounting clips. I bought a nice minty set of caps, but can't find the clips anywhere!

Try pep boys

I agree, that would be sweet. My dad's 91 aero had steel wheels with trim rings but had the plastic center cap with chrome lug nuts. I always liked that look.

Do you mean the mounting base? I tried junkyards and the ones I found were rusted away and trashed. It was rare just to find them at all. I'm really glad I found this set. They are NOS from 1988. Still had the part number tag on them. The little clips that go in the wheel for the screws, I still need to find. Hopefully my hardware vendor at work can get them.

That's different. I might be able to trim it down and use it to color a set of ford trim rings if I could find some. They had a depression in them that usually was painted red. I can't find any of the O.E. 14 inch rings though.

The steel wheels don't have a smooth bead. So it may not hold. It would work on trim rings.

Idea: you could repant the inner grill black, then add red pinstriping to the two forward edges.

Have fun.

Anyone running 14" tires I don't want to buy 15" rims but the biggest 14" tire I can buy is 27 8.5 14
And I wanted the 235 from an explorer for the 1.5 lift in ground clearance

True and keep some of the chrome edge.

Initially I thought about slamming the van. It's extended length so it would probably would look decent about 2-3 inches lowered. When I was in high school I wanted to chop my original van and put a 5.0 in it. That probably won't happen with this one..

So I played with this a little today.. thinking it's bust for now. I got the wrong paint. It's gonna take a little more effort than I thought originally. The wheels are pretty rusty on the surface and will need wire wheeled. This one was clean and off a parts vehicle. I stopped after this one.

I guess I'm gonna have to spring for some custom mixed paint so I can match. I can't believe I missed it so badly!!

My dad had an 86 ranger, red like that rim. He used to paint the rims silver and it looked good.

I thought about that as the 91 we had was that way from new, I really like body colored steel wheels though.
