I don't know what keeps clunking on my 01' AWD. It's a heavy "clunk" and sounds like it's on the left side toward the front. Seems to only happen when I'm driving on a rough patch of road or when the vehicle is in a position of torsion. I've replaced all the tie rod ends, all of the ball joints, both upper A-arms, the rack, both end links, and all 4 shocks. What's left to check??

Thanks

check your swaybar bushings and change your links!!! that was my problem!!! no more clunking!!!!

Sway bar links come to mind, but that should be an obvious issue.

Have you checked to see that the jack is tight in the storage well? The noise could be transferring up through the body... Mine sounds exactly like you described when it works its way loose. The first time, it drove me nuts for 3 months before I had a flat, and then finally put 2 & 2 together...

I'm getting the same clunk right now in my 99 EB. new lower Ball Joints and sway bar links went in two weeks ago. Then last week I started getting the clunk. really only hear it when I hit a bump, or if I'm at a stop and I move the wheel back and forth, I can hear a faint clunk... this is leading me to believe it's the tie rods.

I'll check the jack. Things that came to mind after I started the post were lower A-arm bushings, cab-mount bushings but I tend to think these are unlikely. Sway bar mount bushings maybe -- the end links are new. I did notice a little clicking the other day when making a sharp turn to the right so I guess it could even be the CV joint causing the clunk as well. ...or the hub. Just thinking out loud. Thanks for the replies.
