my story
i bought a new head unit from my friend for dirt cheap, mainly cuz we're good friends and he owed me a little money, it's out of his old truck so there was no installation manual left, anyway i can not figure out which color wires do what on this stupid thing....so what i need is to know what colors do what on a sony excd-306 head unit

any help is appreciated...even good sites to find this information

bump...i really would like to install this next weekend...help is appreciated

Umm.. Which stereo is in your truck right now? If you go to crutchfield or any other car audio site you can get a Ford wire harness so that you can match up the wires for things like 12v constant, switchable, speaker positive & negative, etc.. You can probably find a wire harness color chart for the Sony on google so you can match up the wire from the sony to the correct wire on the truck.

ok in my eyes there are two parts of the harness...from truck, and to radio...i have the from truck part, i have it and it's ready to be put in...and i also have to to radio part...the only issue is that i know what color is what for the from truck part, but unfortunately i do not know which colors to splice into...on the head unit

I'd personally use a wiring harness adapter like this..

Then you can simply match the wiress off the adapter to the head unit if they are labeled.

i have that adapter...and they are labeled.....on the side coming from the truck...and only a few of the wires actually match up color to color from that harnes to the head unit....
