98 AWD. I have a clunk at times, mainly when starting the ol' Ex. I feel it in the steering wheel, suspecting the steering shaft. I opened the hood and looked at the shaft.. very rusty, boot looks like it slid down, etc. My question is: When I grab the shaft ( :thumbdwn by the exhaust manifold, it moves a bit, so how much is it supposed to move, if at all? Should it be solid or have some play? Thanks!!
