Steering Shaft Question

Ok, searched to no avail on this Question... With as many People Doing SAS on 2nd Gens. How have you guys attached the Steering shafts to work from a 1st gen gear box to work on 2nd gen?

Help is very welcomed.

If you start at post 473 : in my SAS thread there's some good info on using an Aerostar shaft to go from the 2nd Gen steering wheel to a steering box. Now I used a Toyota box, but I think the 1st Gen Explorer box has the same tooth count on the input gear. I mean.. it fit an Aerostar.

I just used the first gen bottom steering shaft and then connected it at the 2nd steering shaft at the firewall. However I just changed it. I shortened the 2nd gen bottom shaft with the double u-joint, and welded the end on from the first gen shaft.

I hope that made sense
