Ok my friend owns a salvage yard(how awsome is that)and he is going to give me the Ranger leaf springs. This gives me about 5.5 inches? From what I understand I can use 2wd or 4wd right? And what do I need to do to the front exactly?Could someone give me a complete parts list and may be a round figure on the cost?Thanx in advance.Sorry for this question I might as well be asking if 31s will fit.But I just want to be absolutley sure of what I need to do.Thanx

New coil springs is the only way you can lift the front end that much. They'll run you about 150 or so. I didn't know that the zimmerman mod will lift the a@@ end that much????

thanx leebo

Ok I did more searching sorry. I meant spring over I get it now all I'll need is the front super lift.I'm just learning about suspensions can you tell.

There is a difference. The zimmerman mod will give you a slight lift....but a huge amount of "flex". The spring over is the most common lifts for the explorer. It is done by using a bracket and some blocks mounted on top of the rear axles. This reuses the springs for the rear and ends up lifting it the 5.5 inches you wish. You will then need to do new springs in the front. The ones from superlift will work, but tends to sag after awhile.

YOU WILL NEED MORE THOUGH.

With a lift of this size there is more too it than just new springs and a soa. You will end up needing to get new shocks, radius arms, break lines, and extended sway-bars. All of this could easly end up costing over a grand, but don't let this stop you. You can flick off some of that cost by using stock parts, but not much.

Cool thats what I needed to know thanx again!

Ok smarties how about this one what will I get if I put an add-a-leaf on the and a Warrior shackle and coil spring spacers with the Skyjacker 2" lift on ,it would be sweet if I could squeeze another inch or two for cheap.(I'm trying to move to Colorado.)

The rear would be somewhat fine....but you'd kill the front. The ride will be wayyyyy unstable with that setup. You'd be putting a ton of the sway on the coil and the spacers(you were going to get both right). Even a 2" spacer would disagree with you and your ride. If you're looking for a cheap lift try a body lift. You can get a 3" lift for about 200 or so and that includes all the extras. The install seems to vary but is doable in your own garage. You also might want to ask yourself what do you want a lift for???? Do you want it for off-highway driving or for looks????

Lee your the man.I'm just going to save for a 4" with all the right stuff. Now if I could just get the government to pay it!

Jason, listen

Hey my names jason too, and i went with the skyjacker 2 inch lift. i have a sport and it ended up being about 2 1/2 inches for avout 230+ i installed it all. Not bad, you dont have to up grade shocks or brake lines(if you keep the sway bar connected). But let me tell you for 600 you can get the 5'5 inch lift and with out superrunner steering. But i get hung up on rocks and slick round on my rear shock mounts so im going to do a SOA someime. But I love my lift and the look with 31's. but i wish it was higher, drives great, i still do 80 onon the highway. =) Dead Link Removed
