Hello,

I have an Alpine MRP-F240 amp. I was told it will barely tickle two 10" subs.

I had that amp in my old 190E running a sealed Kenwood KFC Typhoon series sub . It sounded great in the little trunk even though there was a gas tank between the interior and the trunk.

Now on the Explorer... it's not just the trunk to act as the pressurized boom box but the whole cabin that's alot bigger, although connected to the sitting room so I'm not sure on effect.

Will I have better performance with same setup in the Ex as compared to the Benz? I want to go sealed for sound quality. Will that amp be able to power 2 10's? It sounded great with 1 although it got very hot... but reading reviews of amp people reported no heat powering a 10". I know it was bridged but I have no idea how it was set since a shop installed and tuned it.

Should I buy another identical amp off Craigslist for $100 and go with 2 10"s? or buy a larger mono amp...

so many choices, so little money, I just wanted to go with sub/cabling since I have an amp already that I don't want to go to waste, but now my deck is old and should be replaced since bringing bass all the way down still gives off too much bass through the doors and doesn't play MP3's. Door speakers are 1996 Infinitys that have seen better days...

How about a sealed Bazooka with a 10" XPlod. I've also been looking at http://miami.craigslist.org/ele/599057409.html but it's a ported box... he'd let go the subs for $100 they are http://credencespeakers.com/Merchan...uct_Code=CSC104C&Category_Code=Classic_Series

The bazooka : http://miami.craigslist.org/ele/597707881.html

I'm looking for tight clean bass with many playable frequencies.

Sorry for the confusing an newbish post but maybe you guys can help me some. Thanks.

If you're serious about staying around $100 then just write each choice down on a piece of paper, close your eyes, drop your finger down onto the paper, and go with whichever selection it lands on.

Seriously though, if what you have now sounded okay in the other vehicle, give it a try first. It's probably better than the other stuff you are looking at.

By the way, you can get really good sound from a ported enclosure, and it's much more efficient. The big drawback is that the box will need to be bigger.
