Hi, my truck (explorer 91 xlt) is making a noise after you turn the ignition off. It kind of sounds like a pump or something comming from the air filter area and then it clicks. I have no idea what it is or could be, any ideas?

Hey, I beleive the clicking noise is the catalytic converter. There is sometihng in it and when they start to cool down they make little clicking sounds. I hear it on a lot of cars. I am pretty sure about what the clicking sound is, though I may be wrong.

Listen next to the rear tire on the driver's side. If the pump sound is coming from that area, then it is your fuel pump running. If that's the case, then the fuel pump relay is sticking and needs to be replaced. The relay is under the hood just above the passenger side wheel well.
