I'd recomend that everybody spray sound deadener in thier door panels. I did mine yesterday and it's a big improvement. There's no annoying noises, creaks, pops or wind noise. I've ridden in BMW's that weren't as quiet. Also my stock speakers sound 100% better. I sprayed inside the doors and inside the plastic panels(after removing the cloth). The total cost for this was about $20 (6cans). I still haven't done the back half, but will do it when I install my sub. For anybody with a more powerful stereo, this is a cheap way to improve your sound quality and if you don't a great way to cut down on noises.

Godfather,

You forgot something. When you post something as wonderful as this you should include the name of the product you used and where to buy it, thanks!

I would like to know!

It's called Body Gaurd by WellWorth. I got it through the place I used to work at. I haven't seen it in stores, but maybe you could look up detailing supplies in the yellow pages. I paid $40 for a whole case-12 cans. Similar products are $17 in Parts Express. If you can't find a WellWorth dealer, and rubberized undercoating from a parts store will do. I saw a can at Parts America for $3.50.....Just make sure when you do the plastic panels you mask them off good.

oops, should be- ANY rubberized undercoating

Godfather,

Could you please take a second and explain the process of using this Sound Deadening Scpray for us. What do you mean by masking off and where exactly?

Thanks for your time!

Here's the steps I used-
1.Remove door panel and power window switch.
2.Tear off plastic sheet between panel and door.
3.Remove speaker, rears use 5.5mm socket.
4.Spray inside the door itself. Spray all over inside the door. Don't worry about drips, the more you can apply the better. I have an appox. 1/16in layer. Just don't get the window and lock mechanisms covered.
5.Spray outside the door, where the plastic sheet was. Keep the spray inside the area covered by the panel. You don't need to get real thick here. Just be careful where you spray and go around the door handle. The spray is thick enough you don't need to mask here.
6.On the door panel-remove the thick piece of fabric. Save this. Mask off the holes where the power widow buttons and door handle used to be, also the speaker grill. Spray the entire inside of the panel. After it dries, use hot glue to put the fabric back in.
7.That's it. Put it all back together.

You're going to take up the better part of the day doing this. It took me 5 hours. The reason it's so long is you have to let the coating dry before you put anything back together. Be sure to keep your windows down, if you can, for a day or two or you'll have a nice buzz when you drive from the fumes. If you get any spray on the paint, just use a clay bar to remove it. Paint thinner can remove any drips on the plastic. You should use approx. 15-18 cans for the whole vehicle. I'm on 9 and I just did the lift gate with the cargo area and floors to go...and maybe the roof. It really helps to have a door panel remover too.

Since you guys brought up this subject, I have a question or two. I'm not sure I want to try the spray on sound deadener but that mat stuff sounds interesting. Where can this stuff be best put to use seeing that its fairly expensive? I'm also thinking of using an undercoating spray on my rear wheel wells, does doing this make any difference as far as sound goes and how does it look afterwards? I would like to keep the original glossy black look.

Thanks!

I did the whole underside and didn't notice much of a difference. It makes the wheel wells look good. They'll never be shiny because it isn't a smooth surface, but they'll always be black. I'd forget about the mat stuff. The the price of a 3x5 sheet of that, you can get a whole case of undercoating.

The Mat stuff is much easier to put on, I put a brand called road-kill in the Tail gate of the Navajo and that stuff looks Great and works great too... The Spary on kind I used on the Driver door and that was the biggest pain and It did not cost that mush different than the Mat stuff... I did the tail gate for $35 and that was the Inside and outside sheet metal behind the panel...
