Hey guys! I have 2 12's that fire up, and they rattle EVERYTHING. all doors, the back hatch especially, and even parts of the console. Someone told me to try a kind of sound dampener in a can that you spray, so it will mold to specific parts. Anyone know how to get rid of at least some of the rattle??? Any help would be great!!!

it's rubberized undercoating. spray it on the inside of the plastic panels to get rid of the rattles. you can buy it at wal mart in the auto section for about 3 or 4 dollars.

Turn the stereo down...

If you use the rubberized undercoating, be SURE to let it dry very thoroughly (it can take quite a while). If you're going to spray anywhere other than on the inside of those panels, I'd highly recommend using Duplicolor bedliner spray (~$7/can at WalMart), as it dries MUCH quicker, goes on easier (more evenly), and does a bit better job dampening sound. I've used both... there is a difference. To me it's worth the extra $2-3 per can.

thanks for the advice!!! I'll look into. Does anyone know of something just as good as dynomat that won't take 500 or more to sound proof my whole X?

Yep, Raamat. Same stuff as Dynamat Extreme, but not NEAR the cost. Works great and sticks to everything (even without heat). Lots of folks over on Elite Car Audio, Sounddomain, CarAudioForum.com, etc have used it and love it. Anybody who uses it is pleased. He always has an auction up on ebay for it, or contact him directly. Very nice guy.

Do a search for spray foam. There is a very good thread on another alternative to sound dampen your Explorer.

check b-quiet.com alot cheapier than dynomat

I second rammatt! Awesome product.
