2005 XLT V8 4x4 w/o trailer tow option, 20k miles
Bought this truck used 5 mos ago. Runs quiet until 65. I get a loud low vibration/noise from 65 to 85. I do not feel it in the steering wheel. It is louder when I coast than when I accelerate. It is still present if I shift into neutral.
I read a lot of posts on this issue, but before I pay someone to "fix" it, I'd like to figure out for certain if it's the drive shaft or the rear diff.
There is a TSB that says the drive shaft should be replaced with a premium balanced drive shaft.
Is there a cheap way to eliminate one or the other possible sources?
Please help.
