There is probably a crack in the spark plug wire, or the plug is bad, or the gap is incorrect

When you say the plug is failing, what do you mean? Is the electrode blowing apart, is it covered in oil/soot or is it just misfiring on that plug and then gets better when you replace it?

If the plug looks "wrong" post a pic to it (put it on flickr/photobucket etc and then link to it here or embed it in your post with [ img ] [/img] tags around it.

Engine?
As far as "failing", what do you mean by that?
It doesn't fire or it quits firing after a period of time?
Have you replaced it before?
What brand of sparkplugs?
Is it just fouling?
Are they gapped correctly?
What do the wires look like? Last time they were changed?
Does it burn oil?

Hi Taser,

Aftermarket wires? I was having issues with my #5 cylinder plug on my 4.0 ohv(Might still have). This last time, I did find the #5 wire was resting on the egr tube and it looked cracked. Im hoping replacing the wire with a better fitting wire has solved the issue. Hopefully this helps. My plug would fail every 4-5 months.

Just replaced the wire in my 97 and noticed the same thing with the EGR tube, so much for OEM fit on aftermarket wire sets!;)
