I've got new wires and plugs. The wires are brand - x from advanced auto parts and the plugs are stock motorcraft. What my problem is, I'm getting a clicking (pretty sure) from either the coil pack, the wires or the plugs. I idled in complete darkness and couldn't see any arcing going on but I can definately hear it. My question is,what should my resistance on generic plug wires be if I were to try to ohm them out?

as i remember it it is supposed to be between 12-24k ohms per foot of plug wire

Isn't that kind of a loose range or no?
I'm not very well versed in this area.

Thanks

I suspect a boot isn't fully seated on a plug. The resistance isn't that critical unless one wire is way out. This would indicate the cable may have been excessivly pulled or bent. Unlikely that would cause a noise. Aftermarket wires can be difficult to seat on the coil pack

Thanks everybody.

EliteConcept, Yeah I tried a search but didn't get your thread, I guess my wording wasn't quite right.

I'll check for "seating" again, however I got the "click" on each boot and the coil pack side seamed okay.

Of course this is all merely a nuissance compared to my "spark knock/ping" problem. I must have an intake leak somwhere, I'm on my 2nd set of gaskets too, I'll just have to keep hunting it down.
