Well I put bosch platinums and sti magnicore wires in the truck tonight. I have a 95 xlt. matched everything up to the location of the old wires (im pretty sure). it idles fine but when I put it in gear the truck shakes really bad but it doesn't lose idle. I dont understand what it could be. all of the plug and wires were nice and snugg. the only thing I can think of is the gapping of the wires (the guy told me they come pre gapped) or maybe I have the wires hooked up wrong. can anyone help

You are on the right track I think. You could have the firing order mixed up. I don't think bad gap could cause that much trouble. (it should be about .054").

yea sounds like you put the plug wires on the spark plugs wrong..
check to see what the order should be.

you wouldnt happen to know the firing order for a 95 ohv would you?? I can get the ones up top right (they are #) its just the ones on the side of the block that im not sure about.

Thanks for the help

The FIRST thing I always do when I acquire a vehicle is to buy a Haynes/Chiltons manual. I usually end up having to buy another if it is a vehicle I have kept for a period of time. Get a Haynes, and they will have graphically a firing order diagram. That is what happened to you, not hard to do considering the way that the aires are routed. I am changing out the FPR and O2 sensors, fuel filter, reoiling the K&N, and cleaning the MAS, then reset the PCM this w/e. With the info in the Haynes and all the guys here with tips/tricks, I will probably only spend about 2 hrs on the entire job. They taught me how to get to that back pass. side plug, only after I had broke it off and decided DAMN, they were right.
Get a Haynes, not the best, but very usable.
Good Luck.

Where can I find a place that sells the magnacore wires at a reasonable price. I have the part number for my V8 already, I just lost all my links, :(

Try Cyberauto. They had the best price of all the places I checked. You may get an e-mail telling you that the wires are on backorder and it will be 2 to 3 weeks before you get them. Don't worry, I got mine in about a week.

hey kps36 thanks for the advice on the chiltons but I find my buddies at ford know more than they do.

I went out on my lunch today and all the wires were in the right spots. im gonna take them out today and make sure they are gapped right. wish me luck.
