1999 Explorer Sport
I know that this was a big topic about a year ago. I read through and got a lot of information but just not what I am looking for. My 99' Explorer Sport has 62k miles. I bought it used and have had it about a month and haven't put many miles on it. It is in very good condition but it has a slight hesitation at low rpms. I have been told that if it has the original plugs and wires in it that it would probally fix the problem if I changed them. Well it has the original plugs and wires. I figure that I should go ahead and replace them. I have been looking around and reading and have found about a few brands like Bosch, Motorcraft, and Autolite. I have heard that going with Bosch is a toss up because some have good luck and some do not. I kind of what to go with some other brand then Motorcraft because they are stock. I went to Autozone and they pushed the Autolites. I am basically looking for a good plug with performance, fuel economy, and reliability. I don't want to have to pull the plugs and change them after 10k because they are bad. I am willing to spend the money to get a very good plug for the application. I would like to have a good brand of plug and wire recommendation. Is it better to get the same plug and wire brand? Give me some information.

4.0L SOHC

Thanks,

Stay with the motorcraft wires and plugs as they seem to work the best for the SOHC engine. I had Jacob wires on mine and they rotted inside the coilpack. I had to replace the spark plugs and coilpack later on because it caused a short due to the blue powdery material getting inside the coil towers.

Definitely stay with Motorcraft plugs and wires.

Will changing the plugs solve or help my problem? Where can I find motorcraft plugs and wires online for the 4.0L SOHC? Is there anything else I can do to help this problem?

Thanks,
llknowlesll
