Speaker 'popping' when chaning volume?...

I've got a first gen (93 sport).

When try to change the volume on my cd player, I get a 'pop' sound from my right front speaker - very embarassing!

Does anyone know what this is and how i could fix it? I don't want to get ripped off by a mechanic telling me to change 'everything'...

I'd say either it's a bad ground or bad speaker most likely.
