Speaker Swapout

Has anyone changed out the speakers in their 1st gen exploder? Before I break anything, can I use a screwdriver to pry off the speaker screens or do I have to take the whole door panel off?

i literally just did this,

wasnt too hard, just unscrew the plastic door lock knob, pull 3 screws and start ripping the door off.

a nifty trick i pulled off, i cut open the stock wiring harness that went to the stock speaker, and attached the metal clips inside of it to my new speakers. saved me some time crimping new connectors.

I just swapped out the speakers in mine, too, about 3 weeks ago. Super easy job and it sounds so much better. The JVC head unit helps, of course!
