Ordered 2 pair, 60 watt rms kicker speakers (where $65 on sale but now they have them listed as $125... guess I bought them at the right time) and a new 4 channel (40 rms per channel) Alpine amp ($150), from Crutchfield. Very pleased with the turn out. Sound is very, very crisp. Before my amp over powered the factory speakers ( :thumbdwn: ) but now they are in balance. I also put in a Pioneer H.U. but this was a while back. Posting that and the Subs below.

I just put that same head unit in my explorer last week,
its so much easier changing songs from the ipod on that than on the ipod while trying to drive.
I ran the usb cable under the cup holders into the console so I never have to mess with the ipod.

Sorry if I sound confusing, but I have a question.

From what I"ve read, my Explorer has a factory amp, now if I wanted to put in a new amp to power the speaker doors, how would I go about that? Do you just bypass the harness, and install new wires straight to the amp, or do you use RCA cables like you would subs?

Because I do not have a factory amp, I am probably not the best person to ask. However I do know that there is a way to bypass the factory amp. Or you can buy a this device (not sure what it is called) from Walmart ($20) which connects to your back speakers. This uses the bass singal to the back speakers, to drive the subs.
