Hello I have pioneer TS-6867 speakers. They handle a constant 50 watts and max at 220. They are 6x8 and are in all 4 doors. They are three ways. I was just curious what kind of amp I should get. I want a 4 channel amp. I am not sure what wattage to get. I want to be able to power all these speakers cleanly and great. I just don't want to much power and then blow my speakers. I am just wondering what amp will do the job. Also the has high low controls or whatever that will go with these. These speakers seem to have a bass problem that distorts the highs. So I am looking to clear that up. Then later get an amp and sub to take care of that. Thanks a bunch

It all depends on how much $$$ you want to spend. I'd look to run 100w RMS to each speaker. Give them 220 and they'll blow right out of the doors. Get a good quality solid amp with all the features you need, and you'll never have to worry about replacing it. I, personally, am partial to Planet Audio. I have an MTX that I really like also. I have a Fosgate and personally think its crap.

What's with everyone buying cheaper speakers for the rear doors and only amping the fronts? I don't get it. IMO all 4 door speakers should be the same, and have the same wattage.

On E-Bay there is an MTX 4/3/2 channel amp I was thinking of buying. The Buy it now is $165, ends in 3 days. It is 120x2 at 2 ohms, 240x2 bridged. It has 4 gauge power and ground. has SmartEngauge which eliminates the need for a remote wire. It has front and rear X-overs at 85hz. Its nice and I was going to buy it, but i need to think about new tires first.;)

Dont put 100rms into those speakers they will blow. The 50rms (constant) is all they will handle if you put 100rms they will blow. Good rule of thumb is about 10-15 rms over anything more and it is just a matter of time or a song that will blow them.

Yeah I should've added to keep the gains set low.:) It depends on the brand of amp tho. A cheaper amps rating will be generally higher than a good amps. I'd put a 200 watt MTX against a 600 watt Jenson.

LOL if your give that advice to get a jensen please leave the board. j/k ya if you got a wal mart or any cheap brand you wont have to worry but im sure hes going to get a good amp.

I was certainly not advising a Jenson. I don't buy any of my audio goods where I can also buy new underwear
and cereal. I'm a big fan of buying more amp than you really need. That way if you upgrade speakers(it seems its never quite finished)you won't need a new amp. Plus it will never heat up.

Well I have another question. I am thinking of getting tweeters. I know where I want to mount them so thats cool. Yet do I need them having 3 ways in all 4 doors? If I do get them do I need just two for the front or should I get 4 to go on all doors. Also how to hook them up. Then I would wire these with the 4 channel amp I cm considering buying. I am still now sure, the question wasn't really answered except to stay in a 10 to 15 over range of RMS. Just curious about the tweeters. Once I get all that then the amp and sub which should throw more bass into the system and get things leveled and all good. Thanks.

With four good three ways all tweeters will do is raise the sound stage. How do the Pioneers treble sound off the deck? They will sound a lot better once they get crossed over. If the treble is lacking off the deck the new amp probobly won't help a whole lot. They will distort a lot less which will make them sound better.

How bout you list out all the things you plan or would like getting. We will be able to give you better advice than just guessing on what you want.

if its clean power you dont have to worry about feedignt he speaker too many watts, when it starts clipping then you hve to worry. feed tem 100 watts rms, my 2 back door speakers have 70 and when the get turned up loud they distort slightly due to lack of power. just get a good 4 channel amp.

cadence q4000 --> 4x100 at 2 ohms.
i recommend this amp...170 brand new off www.shop4sound.com

I disagree feed them too much of any kind of watts and it will damage the speakers.

Generally speaking the ratings are far overrated. Give nearly any highs 200 watts and they won't last very long.
