ok i got the head unit and subs out of the way, now its the stock speakers, I was thinking hard on the punch component speakrs for the front two doors and there 6x9's for the back two ( I think those will fit) and I picked out a rockford 4 channel amp to push them to. but im just wondering if theres anything better out there, I want the best sound i can get. thanks

I don't like any of Rockford's new stuff. I like the Polk components, but also heard good things about JL and Infinity. 6x9's WILL NOT fit.

ok im guessing it was 6x8's for the back. i wasnt sure which it was. i may have to look into JL audio and see what they have.

I just put new Infinity Reference speakers in my Explorer... the biggest I could put in without modifying the door was 5x7. That was front and back. (I have the premium sound system in my truck, if that makes a difference. They sound totally awesome though and I am running them with the stock HU. I love 'em.

I have Alpine R-type 6X8 (5X7) and the fronts and JL Audio 6X8 in the rear. Great sound for my needs. Both are two way coaxials. The purists on the site will tell you to go with component speakers and/or 6.5" speakers.

heh purist... 6x8 coaxes are fine, perfectly fine for most ppl... If you're going to get the rockford coaxials, forget ever wanting to put an amp to them.. and unless rockford dramatically changed the design, you better have a warranty w/ em.

I had MA Audio Hard Kore 6x8 coaxials front and rear, and they sounded excellent IMO.
but I just HAD to upgrade to 6.5" components cuz I'm a purist :)
