97 explorer sport
Hey boys and girls.
I just installed a new apline 9811 unit with a sony amp and 10"clarion sub and it sounds great. I wanted to get rid of the factory speakers in the back of my 97 sport. What speakers do you guys recommend?

Not sure of the size , is it 6x8?

yup. 6x8. and be warned: by asking that question you're opening a huge, and very popular, can of worms. just you watch!

izackary is right on the money.

Before you get an onslaught of brand names people prefer, think about this: Don't hook up the rear speakers. Take that money you were going to spend on the rear speakers and buy even better front components.
Just my $0.02. I'm sure more will show up soon.

I got four pioneer 4-way speakers in my X. They sound great and best of all they were $55 a pair buy it now on ebay...brand new and all (must have been stolen)..but they retail for over $110 a pair so i got a good deal.

see? SEE???

Hey, Karl:
I though about doing that, deleting rear speakers. The way my stereo is now, I have Polk DX7's up front (which sound absolutely beautiful, I might add. bladerunner!), and stock speakers in the back. I usually have my speakers faded about 80/20 front/rear. But when I carry rear passengers, which is a few times a month now, and soon to be more times in the near future, they always ask me to turn it up because it's faded. What would you recommend there? I'm considering components up front, and a decent plate speaker in the rear doors. (Both have similar power handling, closer than a coaxial in the back.)
