Has anyone had Superchips ( or others ) program a custom chip that was designed for max fuel economy?

Can it be done? Ideas.....

for max fuel ecoonmoy dont get a chip. keep it stock

James, do you get an average of 24 mpg and 30 mpg on the highway? I don't think so. Even with just the KN, catback, and chip I got an avg of 22 mpg. This was much better than my 16-17 mpg stock....

Anyway, Aldive: if you only have moderate mods such as the filter and catback, the "stock" superchip programming will be fine. It's only if you have many mods that you should need to get a custom chip. But yes, superchip does do custom chips. Have you checked out their website www.superchips.com yet? Custom programming is $125, I think that fee is less than is was a few years ago.

i know i was kinda kidding. if you read the instruction/owners manual it says not to use anything other than genuine ford replacement parts or you will cause damage.......it says too that your engine and things are already designed to be the most fuel efficient so modifying of any kind will hurt performance

Ya, the stock setup runs the most fuel efficiently...for the price. There are also some drawbacks to the aftermarket speed parts. Like running 93 octane clogs up the injectors and O2's faster (and is more expensive), the KN filter and catback setups are noisier (and Ford makes money off replacement filters). Look at it this way: vehicles like the Cobra R and Lighning come with aftermarket speed parts from Ford, like KN, Airaid, and Borla. With those vehicles, people expect the added noise and maintenance. Our entry level grocery getters are made to be mass produced, quiet, and relatively easy to maintain.

All I know is that I can get groceries really fast and then make my own road on the way home ;)
