I want to take out my factory tape player and put in my new MP3 player but the thing won't come off. I stuck nails in there and it still won't budge. Do I actually have to go buy a tool to do thing, if so where and how much.

Stupid Ford can't make anything simple.

you don't HAVE TO have the tool, but from my experience.. its worth it to keep yourself from scratching your dash bezel.. I smack myself almost every time I see the unsightly scratches I made.. any audio shop should do it for free for you, but if not, I've heard walmart sells them.. they are called "ford keys" or something along those lines

Alright I'm going to give it one more shot.
I also read somewhere you have to remove the dash around the player to take it out, but the post was made by someone with a 91. Same with my 96?

on the 95-up models yes you can remove the dash bezel and take it out.. heh, I dunno why they don't just tell you to do it that way... but, at the time, I ignored the obvious.. and scratched my bezel, its so annoying

I just pulled the head unit on my '97 using the ford "keys". Easy. Invest the five bucks.

get the keys they are like $5 and once you have them everything is easy as pie

I'm not sure about 95+ models, but I know that on my '94, I was able to save the $5 by just bending some clothes hanger wire into the shape of the tools that that they sell for removing the headunit. Worked just as well.

Hello,
I went to a local stereo shop and they gave me a set for free. They said they had a stack of em' in the shop because a lot of head units include a set in the box. If you can't get em' for free buy a set. They are well worth the investment.

Don't fight it..Get the keys , I paid $3 and change for a set at Wal-Mart..Falls right out..

I got the "key" for 5 buckaroos at Pep Boys. The reciever popped right out!
