I have a 2015 Sport (3.5 V6 Ecoboost). I change PTU fluid with every engine oil change. The unit leaks, the leakage is getting progressively worse and I plan to preemptively replace. There are 2 different PTU's that, according to TASCA and other online Ford dealers, are acceptable replacements. These are DT4Z-7251-F and DG1Z-7251-F. My PTU has the cooler, drain and temp sensor. Can anyone tell me what the SPECIFIC differences are between these two PTU's listed above.

I really don't know but I would think that the cooler, drain and temp sensor may add to the price so if that is the case, DG1Z-7251-F would perhaps be the one. Also, Tasca Part shows it with a cooler vs the other one.

The PTU was updated through the years and the 2019 is obviously the latest revision. I'm not sure what part # you need but that's what I would try to find. Mine also leaks down the case as the gasket is just peeling away.

Thanks for the feedback from you both. What was throwing me was the Ford part numbers. I know the 1st letter is the decade the part was introduced. For vehicle years 1993+, the D indicates 2013 which makes sense. The next 2 digits indicate the product line code. I can't find either T4 or G1 on internet sites, so this is my primary concern for correct fitment of the PTU. The last digit "Z" indicates both are service parts (not engineering parts) and that makes sense. So, some assistance from members with definition for the T4 and G1 codes would be of great help.

Okay guys, I may have answered my own questions from above. I found a site that lists the T4 product line as the Edge and G1 as the Taurus (post 2000). Since this info doesn't help with fitment of either PTU into my Sport, more research is definitely required.

Here is the latest revision of the PTU that is factory replacement for 16-19 with the cooler. Its also the same PTU used on SHO performance package for same years.

It should technically work with any year Sport that came with a cooler from the factory. Like I said this is the updated design so its got better internals.

Since the Taurus was fitted with the 3.5L 365 HP GTDI (same as my Sport) and the Edge was offered with the 2.7L twin turbo, it is likely that the PTU having the G1 product code is the correct fitment for me. I'll validate that with the parts supplier upon ordering.

Did you get those part numbers by using your VIN number? Go to www.cheapfordparts.com enter your VIN number it should tell you which unit it correct for your vehicle. I've them for 1998 ford Ranger restoration parts. They are the online parts Dept for Downtown Ford in Sacramento CA and have been very helpful.

To shop at Ford Parts, use your VIN.

I purposely linked a 2019 PTU as that has upgraded internals vs older years and should be direct replacement for any PTU with cooler/sensor from factory.

I wouldn't be surprised if they send you a 2019 even if you ordered one for a 2015
