Speedo gauge question

My speedo needle on my 94 is very erratic. It jumps all over the place above 55mph. I also hear a high piched wine when it is doing this. I had a shop replace the speedo head at the gauge. This seemed to work, & my speedo was fine. The last week it started happing again. Seemed to start after I maxed out the speedo gauge. Would maxing out the gauge break the speedo head? If that is the probelm, can I get a diiferent one, so when I do max out, it won't break? Traffic in my area really moves past 85 alot of the time. Or maybe that's not the problem at all. Any ideas would help.

mine did that after 45. i just replaced it with another one from a 91. so far so good. so i don't know what to tell ya. maxing it out should be a problem.
