custom gauge question

Heres what i want,
i want some custom gauges but i DON'T want them to light up a different color, because i think that will upset the entire dash monotone color scheme, so would all i have to do for some custom guages is make the template, and then put them on over the guages since i want the same color to shine though?

basically all i want is white background, and black letters with greeen lighting


oh yeah trying to go cheap here so i can do my speedo and a/c panel
