speedo problems

i have a 1997 explore 4x4 with auto trans
my problem is that the speedo went to jumping all over the place, i changed out the speedo vss with a new one. now that i have done this the speedo is a lot beter but still moves arount about 5mph at 60 mph. the cruise control wont hold steady trottle. it all worked ok before the speedo went bad. what should i test or replace next?

replace the speedo head. it's worn out.

i put in a rebuilt one about half year ago, should be all right? i would think?

if the speedo was the problem would that cause the cruse not work. when the old speedo went out the cruse still worked
