my 2002 explorer xls reads 2 miles an hour faster than actual speed. Just 2. Anyone seen this before?

Normal. I believe they do that to keep us out of trouble. Every vehicle we own reads just a bit faster on the odometer than what a speed radar unit will show on the side of the road.

Ford Australia does that too.
You believe your doing 100 kph . . . no, 97-98.

That all goes to hell though if you change your tyre's diameter . . . .
Good luck with that.
