I have just installed a spacer/shackle lift and 31x10.50 tires on my 1992 Explorer.

Does anyone know how far my speedometer if off now? or know of a thread dealing with this?....I have looked. Thanks.

it depends on what your factory gear ratio is... also, it depends on hoe "off" it was before with the stock tires.... factory set speedometers are never actually accurate..... go over to www.4lo.com to do their conversion table for change tire size or something like that once you know what your axle gears are...... and you have a first gen, which has removeable speedo gears in it, normally, you can just change it up or down a tooth and get it almost perfect to where it was before......

Sweet....thanks! It says that when Im running 55mph on the speedometer that Im actually running approx. 60 mph.

Where is the gear I need to change? and how do I do it? Thanks.:D

i think it is mounted on the tranny or the tcase... try a search for speedometer gear or something like that......

Its on the t-case. One bolt and it comes out. just swap the gear and you are set.

What gear do I swap it for? and where do I get it? Thanks.

Get it from ford... about $7 or so.. What gear you have now will determine what gear you'll need.. Pull it out and either count the teeth, or look at the number on it and that'll tell you how many teeth it has. Tell ford this and how far off your speedo is at (X) speed.. I think it's 60mph, but I don't remember

Sounds good.....exactly where is this gear I need to pull and how do I do it? Thanks.

Look near the rear output shaft on the t-case. It's real easy to get at.
