Hey guys,

Wondering if anybody else here has had a problem of the spedometer needle sticking after installing some aftermarket gauge faces.

I'm hoping its just the face is riding too high on the base of the needle causing it to kind of skip. It like hits 30mph, then kinda waits a bit and jumps right to 35-40, same at other speeds. And also does the same thing when slowing down.

Just trying to get some info before I rip the dash apart again, hoping its just that and not that somehow the speedometer got messed up.

Ultra common problem with faces. Yeah the face is too high at one point. try to smooth it out. make sure there isnt any dirt or anything keeping it from sitting flat also.

the only suggestion I have..
take a fork, or something small enough with 2 prongs, and pry the needle up A LITTLE BIT. This will get it high enough off the gauge face to keep it from sticking. I figured that out after I was stupid enough to completely remove the needle, and now it's off by ~10mph

when i did mine, i just threw the new faces over the old ones, the re-attached the needles. that produced the same problem you seem to be having, so i hacked off the stock gauge faces and re applied the new ones. now they're working great.

thanks for all the info guys, I'll be trying to remedy the situation tonight.

Yeah, I have the same problem (hence the search for this old thread) Damn rice lights....they look so cool, but now I wish I hadn't installed them, it was a pain enough to align everything to get that dash cover off and then back on without removing the whole dashboard!

Simple to fix. It is not the face that is too high, it is the needle has been pressed too far on the post. Just reset the needle a little higher and the problem will be solved.

OK then what if my speedometer sits at 25 with vehicle off and treats 25 as 0. I was going to remove the needle and reset it. my tach is also sticking up so I will see if I can flatten thing sout. Also my gas gauge is way past full. I removed the black cover on the needle and the speedo reset to 0 but when I put it back on it went back to 30. Thought I would check old threads for info
