Anyone know what part is directly under the thermostat? Its spewing coolant from here. I figured maybe the therm was stuck so i replaced it and it is still spewing from the same area. Looks like maybe a gasket against the block or something. I can't find an engine diagram to determine the part. or is it the waterpump?? Thanks so much.

The thermostat housing fastens directly to the top of the engine block. There is an o-ring (or more accurately, an X-ring) between the housing and the block. IIRC, it was about $2.75 from the Ford dealer, and that was the only place I could find it. None of the parts stores included that seal in anything other than a complete engine rebuild seal kit.

That could be leaking, or the housing could be cracked, or the upper hose could be split and squirting it back there, or the heater hose connected to the side of it could be split, or the nipple for the heater hose could be cracked... could be a lot of things...
