How can you tell if your wheel spindle has gone bad? I have removed mine (It took alot of effort and the correct words). Anyhow does a spindle go bad? I will be replacings the bearings in the rotors, but was unsure if there was a way to tell if the spindle was bad? I did beat the hell out of it with a rubber dead blow hammer.

Any thoughts?:(

None of the bearing races where fused to the spindle? does the surface of the spindle look like its scratched? If not the spindles are probably ok, if you have any trouble getting the bearings on and off you can clean them up with some sand paper.

Clean but

Thanks for the info Doug.

The bearings and rotors slid off easily. I had just repacted them on 9/2002 during brake service. There appears to be a visiable "bearing" trail around where the outer bearing would be. I can see it, but cannot "Feel" it. Correct me if I'm wrong, but nothing should be directly moving around the spinde; the bearing and the race within the rotor take all the abuse/wear, correct?
