What does everyone think about the resale or demand for this truck now that it's been killed by Ford? Did killing it off, hurt or help the resale value of the last generation of this truck?

im pretty sure the sport trac will be making a comeback in one way of the other. with a totally new redesign of the explorer, ford has to go back to the lab for a minute and figure out how they are going to build a new ST on it. just my guess anyway. i hope if/when they do, they keep it utilitarian. i hate trucks that have too much crap going on in terms of creature comforts. that sync thing sounds like a real bomb so far on the new X, just make them tough as hell, dependable motors and trannys and make it so they dont leak oil all over my driveway, and im happy.

I am considering a trade in to purchase the 2011 FX4 F150. My rep at Ford said the Sport Trac and Ranger are both dead in the water, but the Ranger is still finishing out its production cycle for this year. Both with be replaced by a single midsize truck to compete with other trucks in same category.

At the auto show, I was talking with a Ford rep while checking out the new Explorer and he said both the Ranger and ST are pretty much dead, but Ford was planning to bring them both back in one truck. Definitely sounds interesting to me. However, I don't know how much those auto show reps know about Ford's future though.

forget the FX4, you need to pick up the new 4-door Raptor!

Same as any similar used vehicle. Thing is, WE love them but realistically if they sold that many then Ford wouldn't have quit making them.
Clean ones might be a collector's item at some point but probably not in my lifetime.

I would think the global Ranger may replace the current NA Ranger and ST, it would save lots of production costs and allow more parts to be reused.

For now, I don't think the resale of an ST would go up and it could go down if your ST is being sold, but needs parts or something. We won't really see any effect until 10 years or so when the spare parts will run out etc.
I would think some people will look for ST's in the future - they do look damn nice, even if they are IFS/IRS. And the V8's will probably be the ones most people will care about, V6 STs will probably just die and be forgotten.
