Okay I'm looking to do a swap to a 4.56 gear from 4.10... all I want to do is swap the ring and pinion not the bearings or races... I need to know how many spline the front and rear have and where I can get 4.56 gears for the 8.8 and dana 35... im also going to need a notched cross pin for both ends... the work will be professionally done but I need to give them the parts... I'm pretty sure the rear 8.8 is 31 spline but not sure on the front... any help is appreciated... please provide links for parts if u can... thanks in advance

iirc the dana 35 is a 27 spline

Are you sure its not 26 spline?

yes but upon searching and recalling my cv axle swap it is 27 outboard side and 26 plus a blank inboard.

Ok so what you're saying is that axle shaft is actually 27 spline and the pinion is 26 spline?

That still counts as 27 if one is used to index it. The 8.8 rear is 31 splines.

You sure you only want 4.56? Don't fear the gear! :D

Seriously, my ST came stock with 4.10's and 30" tires, so with 35's I'd need 4.88's just to stay the same. With 5.13's planned to go with 35's I'll have a little extra torque to help get the big wheels rollin, but hardly enough to be noticeable.

Well my trac has the stock 4.10s now but its my DD and my weekend warrior I had 32" on it before and it was still good in my book and the 4.56 gears will give me a little more torque than the setup I had with the 32s so I'm fine with that

Keep in mind also the 4.88 gears will require some grinding in the dana 35 and on the ring teeth to get it to fit in the differential...
