My friend has a new sport trac that we want to get to work on... need more power!!

what should we look into for the v-6......

on my list i was thinking....

cold air intake
exhaust (not sure on brand)
custom chip
air filter
shift kit (what tranny does the sport trac have??)

any other ideas.... and he doesnt want to void the warrenty at this time

You pretty much hit the nail on the head: intake, exhaust, chip. And the B&M electronic shift improver might work also.

Intake: the 3 major kits (I think) are the Volant, KKM, and KN Gen II. The Volant is a totally closed box, so is kinda restrictive. The KKM is totally open, and the KN II is open but with a heat shield, IMO the best of both worlds. However, the KN is expensive.

Exhaust: a custom job is usually best, using Flowmaster or Magnaflow. Single 2.5" exit or dual 2" exit.

Chip: I'm hearing good things about Diablo lately.
