There aren't really many parts made for the 4.0 SOHC. Cat-back exhaust, XCal or SCT tuner, Random Technology Y-pipe, and cold air (much discussion on that, I maintain that that the OE intake IS a cold air intake), and underdrive pulleys are about it. JBA makes headers but they are pricey and the handful of people I know on the boards who have put them on report little to no difference simply because the stock manifolds are already pretty good. You could gear it up to 4.56's. Zabteck is about the only place with 4.0 speed parts. Explorer Express has some stuff too.
Yup, get the SCT XCAL tuner, and then contact HensonPerformance and they'll help make a tune for you. It's not the same as going to a tuning place and getting a custom one done in person, but I've heard that this is the best way to get things done, and I doubt that a shop could do much better than what these guys do. I've heard nothing but good things about it, and plan to get one asap.
+1. Companies tested their products on the truck when it was first released, realized they weren't making money on the ST aftermarket and dropped further development. That's why the good stuff specific to the ST is so freakin' hard to find. Luckily, there's a lot of parts that are used among many different vehicles that did demand that aftermarket support or we'd be doing everything custom.
