i have a 91 sport that i want to lift before christmas. i useually do all my vehicle lifting myself. so, i was checking out my explorer and saw that the rear was spring under. i was wondering that if i get a 5.5 super lift if that is going to change it to spring over or just add a leafs which i didn't think would lift it enough. i was also looking at pictures in the galleries and the other 91's seem to be spring over from the pictures. i was just wondering why and how did you guys do that? if it wasn't standard lift equipment.-russel

standard 5.5" superlift uses your stock leafs (no add-a-leafs or anything) and converts to spring-over. The superlift 4" lift keeps the spring-under, and gives you new leafs, that's why it costs more.

help me

help me i want to put a springover conversion on my rear butdont know how much lift itll net me or if i can buy it by itself im thinking of a 2.5 for the front and soa rear any help would be greatly appreciated

Pass on that idea. The rear will be sitting about two to three inches higher than the front. The best way for that type of a lift is to go ahead and lift the front with new coils and then lift the rear with either new shackles and add-a-leaf, or get a new set of springs. For the easiest and cheapest lift the shackles and add-a-leaf will work for you. You won't get the results offroad in flex as a SOA but you're truck won't look lopsided. Just about all of the lifts for the explorer are made to be bolt on kits that can be done in a weekend and can be bought at your local 4x4 store. I'm also not sure what year explorer you have so the front may not be able to be lifted by new coils, you may need to do the torsion twist instead.

I'd also like to welcome you to the site. You'll find anything and everything all right here. With you being in CA. and into trucks give Truckhaven a look. Just about any type of Explorer with just about any type of mod will be there.
