so i bought a used explorer just recently and have noticed that the springs may be going bad. does anyone have any suggestions on a good set of springs that will give the truck a more sedan (softer) ride?

thanks

A sedan softer ride? - I think you bought the wrong vehicle. lol.

Explorers ride rough... You say the springs are going bad, are they sagging? Because that's as about soft as it gets, lol.

well i feel like one of the springs on the passenger's side is screaming and going across anything larger than a small tree limb rocks the whole carriage wildly. i havent noticed anything as far as sagging. i do admit that i went into getting the truck knowing that it would be a rough ride but i also though putting new springs into it would lessen that...

Quite the opposite. Replacing your springs will result in a harsher ride. You bought a truck, not a luxury vehicle. All things considered the ride is not all that bad.

I would target shocks first. How many miles on the truck? Chances are they haven't been replaced and are long past worn out. They will be what dampens the ride. I have Monroe Reflex shocks that I just installed and think they ride quite well.
