SQ build

Totally love the system. Let me list my comments and questions.

Those Alpine hu's are hidden gems. So many of them come up on CL and people have no idea at all what they have. My dream has always been a 7998 but people seem to know what that model is.

How do you not kick the mids in the kicks like that? Don't they suffer in midbass without the airspace of the doors? I have always understood the logic of the tweets there but not the mids.

The DD sub is badass as well as the eq and xover. Nice stuff.

I also love the Autotek amps. I had several Autotek amps way back when. 330 mxi and a few from the BTS line. Awesome!

Alpine definitely makes great Head Units. As far as the mids in the floor. The passenger side was no problems of them being kicked. The drivers side was a different story though. I had plenty of mid bass. The 4 ohm comp set was in the floor set up as a coaxial set. The 2 ohm comp set. The mid was in the door and tweet was in the floor with the 4 ohm comp set. I learned about DD from a friend of mine who had 2 of the 9500 series. 3500 series and Image Dynamics ID MAX are very similiar in sound you cant wrong either way. Like you said about Autotek very good quality.

I thought I would update my thread with the new equipment I have purchased over the last several months. As good as the Eclipse was I was thrilled to get a Pioneer DEH80 PRS for my birthday. My wife and kids are unreal! And guess what.......I sold the Eclipse for exactly what I paid for it even though I could have made a few bucks on it. I believe in paying forward.

Let me see.....3 24 bit Burr Brown dac's, 28 bit floating dsp, 16 band left and right eq....oh yeah...it does it all and really well. I also upgraded my amps. Zed built ESX at it's finest. I now have a 120.4 on my front stage and a 275.2 on my sub.

The 120.4 is rated at 120 watts by 4 but really does around 150-160 by 4. The 275.2 is rated in a variety of configurations. In true mono mode like I'm using it it is rated at 825 watts. It's right around 1000. These are amazing amps. I remember Steve mantz of Zed audio saying something along the lines that they were too advanced for the time they were built and posibly even now. Coming from him that's one hell of a compliment to his own work.

Another thing the wife and kids got me as a birthday gift.

Knu Krystal RCA's. Oh they are pretty.

hey i have a question for you, i just recently got back into the car audio game. I purchased a Kenwood KIV BT-901 hu and put in Infinity Kappa 682.9, I know I should have gone component but just getting back in it wasn't sure if I was going to stay in it long. Might change them out eventually. I have a Rockford Fosgate R400-4D amp running the door speakers. So here is my question I have a Rockford Fosgate R500-RD on the way that puts out 500 watts into 2ohms, would you think it would be better to run 1 ten that can handle the 500 watts or 2 8's that can handle 250 watts a piece.

by the way you have a really nice set up, I like what you did with the front dash tweeters.

I have always preferred one driver of good quality as opposed to 2 of lesser quality. Get one of these 12's in d4 and build a good vented enclosure tuned to about 32 hz. You'll be shocked how good it will sound.

thanks for the reply I will look into the 12 I haven't thought about stepping up to the 12". Also I am assuming that you are meaning get one of the SSA Icon subs, where can you buy them I see on there site it is down. Also would I need to get another amp because I think the 500 mono would not put enough power to the sub.
