Help!

I have an intermittant squealing or whining
sound that seems to be coming from the front
wheels/axle/hub. It is generally only audible
at speeds from around 5 mph to 15 mph. (might
be there higher up, but can't hear it well
enough to be certain.) Also, it seems to
occur after the car (brakes?) get warmed up.

I checked the brakes and they have at least
50% left on the pads.

Anyone heard of anything like this. Of course the
dealer says it doesn't exist and nothing is wrong...

Thanks, Clark

Welcome to the site Clark!

What year is your explorer? People have been having trouble with the 98+ squealing when it's cold out (me included). Remedy was to replace Dust Cover Boots and Seals. That may be your problem....... If you do a search for "squealing" you'll probably come across the posts from this past winter detailing this phenomenon. I'm waiting for the weather to get cold again to see if mine are really fixed.....
