This is my first truck (99 XLT Exp.) we've had a rough winter this year in So Cen WI. The front end is squeeky/creeky with any movement. wheel turns, suspension travel, anything. is this normal (120k miles) or is something wrong?

edited spelling. hey, it was late. I was tired.

replace both of your lower ball joints.

so, from what I can find, since mine is a 99, I have to replace the whole arm? or can I just do the lower ball only? any idea of how much$?

You can replace just the lower ball joint, contrary to what the service manual will state and many shops will tell you. The uppers, however, need to be replaced as an assembly with the control arm. If you can find MOOG parts, they sell a replacement upper arm for both sides that has a ball joint that can be replaced independent of the arm on subsequent changes. They're a little more, but will save money in the long run.

How much should I expect to pay for the lower ball joint? how about the upper arm with the replaceable ball joint? sources? ?
